Junior Brianna Davis (right), a member of the WUSTL Visions Gospel Choir, presents a surprise birthday gift to Chancellor Emeritus William H. Danforth during the Woman’s Club Centennial Gala April 10 at the 560 Music Center. The gala commemorated 100 years of the Woman’s Club of Washington University and coincidentally was held the night of Danforth’s 84th birthday. To celebrate, the Woman’s Club surprised Danforth — whose wife, the late Elizabeth Gray Danforth, was an active member of the club — with a small cake and a copy of its centennial book, The Woman’s Club of Washington University Celebrating 100 Years! The dinner was followed by a concert, “Celebration of Women’s History Through Song,” featuring Linda Tillery and the Cultural Heritage Choir.
