A new e-mail system for students, GO WUSTL, debuts Wednesday, Feb. 24. Beginning that day, eligible students can activate their GO WUSTL accounts at go.wustl.edu or any WUSTL Web site where they see the GO WUSTL logo. Once the new account is activated, students can transfer e-mails, address books and other information from their previous school accounts.
GO WUSTL is the university’s customized version of Microsoft’s live@EDU, a program designed for academic institutions that provides e-mail, calendar and Web space.
GO WUSTL offers students e-mail and online services that are an improvement over the university’s current approach, said Andrew Ortstadt, associate vice chancellor for information services and technology.
Currently, each school independently provides e-mail services to students. The features of each school’s system vary, and many students have multiple university e-mail accounts.
“Go.wustl.edu answers a long-standing student challenge to the university to provide a single, better e-mail solution for students,” Ortstadt said. “With GO WUSTL, schools can retire separate student e-mail services and instead use their resources to serve students in other ways.”
Only eligible students can activate GO WUSTL accounts.
Eligible students include undergraduates in Arts & Sciences, Olin Business School, the Sam Fox School of Design & Visual Arts, the School of Engineering & Applied Science and degree-seeking students in University College.
Eligible graduate students are those in Arts & Sciences, Olin Business School, the Sam Fox School of Design & Visual Arts, the School of Engineering & Applied Science, the George Warren Brown School of Social Work and University College in Arts & Sciences.
To activate a GO WUSTL account, students must know their WUSTL KEY user name and password. For help retrieving WUSTL KEY information, visit connect.wustl.edu/selfservice.
Students also are required to provide a non-university e-mail address, such as a gmail account, to ensure they have an e-mail account they can access in case they need to reset their WUSTL KEY passwords.
