Winners of the first Olin Sustainability Case Competition to help alleviate campus parking issues, “Team 29,” celebrate with a trophy and the $5,000 prize that accompanied it Feb. 12. Their proposal detailed reducing the need for more campus parking spaces by promoting increased use of green transportation alternatives. Team members (from left) Stephen Wiese, J.D./MBA ’10; Kavya Naini, MBA ’10; Greta Simon, MBA ’10; and Babatunde Ilori, MBA ’10; targeted the graduate student population as the constituency most in need of improved transit options and most likely to adopt alternatives to commuting by car. Four teams advanced to the final round of judging with proposals ranging from increased shuttle bus service and car pools to bike-sharing programs and an automated parking facility run by robots. More than 100 students entered the competition organized by the MBA programs office, the Olin Strategy and Consulting Association and the Washington University chapter of Net Impact. The winning team also earned an opportunity to present their plan to the administration.
