Rockin’ camp

Laura Rayhel (left), a junior majoring in physics in Arts & Sciences, helps students from area middle schools perform a physics experiment with model rockets during the ExxonMobil Bernard Harris Summer Science Camp, held June 14-26 on the Danforth Campus. This is the third year that WUSTL has hosted the free residential camp that aims to motivate students to excel in math and science. WUSTL’s Science Outreach program received an $80,000 grant from the ExxonMobil Foundation and The Harris Foundation — led by former NASA astronaut Bernard Harris, M.D. — to support the camp. Physics graduate students Sarah Thibadeau and Ben Burch organized a group of physics students who volunteered at the camp.
