On the final day of competition, the women added three more individual titles to bring their two-day total to seven. The 4×400-meter relay squad continued its reign atop the conference, winning the event for the seventh-straight outdoor season. Sophomore Erika Wade, senior Natalie Badowski, sophomore Krystyn Stowe and sophomore Alli Alberts teamed up to win the race in 4:01.61.
Additionally, Alberts defended her championship in the javelin with a throw of 37.19 meters (122-0), while freshman Molly Schlamb won the 800-meter run in 2:18.25. Among other notable performances, Stowe added a second-place finish in the 400 hurdles (1:06.75) and senior Beth Herndon took second in the 5,000 meters (17:43.85).
Sophomore Tanner Coghill and freshman Keith England turned in UAA championship performances to pace the Bears men. Coghill won the 400-meter hurdles in 54.31, while England notched a personal-best throw of 56.97m (just .33m shy of recording an NCAA provisional mark) to win the javelin. The men, who have won 11 team outdoor titles in the program’s history, totaled three individual crowns this weekend.
Coghill also posted a WU season-best performance in the triple jump, an event he placed third in with a jump of 13.21m. The 4×100 relay (42.43) and the 4×400 relay (3:19.40) squads added second-place finishes.
Washington U. returns to action Saturday, April 28, at the SIU-Edwardsville Twilight.
