The following incidents were reported to University Police March 28-April 4. Readers with information that could assist in investigating these incidents are urged to call 935-5555. Crime Alert
On March 28, University Police released the following crime alert:
During daylight hours on March 28, several vehicles were broken into and 1 vehicle was stolen in the 700 block of Rosedale. Investigation revealed that tools were used to gain entry. Vehicle door locks were damaged and electronic equipment and personal items of value were stolen.
Precaution:
Report suspicious persons or activity immediately to police department in who’s jurisdiction you live, the Washington University Police Department at 9355-5555 or go to the nearest emergency telephone.
If you hear a vehicle alarm or the sound of breaking glass, contact Police immediately.
Do not leave expensive property such as CD’s, purses, radar detectors, cellular telephones and portable stereos in plain view in your vehicle. Lock them in your trunk or take them with you.
Lock your vehicle and employ any safety/ security features your vehicle might have. Examples of these features include activating your car alarm, removing stereo faceplates and putting steering wheel locking devices in place.
If your vehicle is parked unattended for a long period of time, periodically check your vehicle and license plates to make sure they have not been stolen or tampered with.
Additionally, University Police responded to six reports of larceny, two reports of lost article, and one report each of suspicious person, property damage, and warrant arrest.
