Bicycle safety and information program

Bicycling 101, sponsored by Health Promotion and Wellness and the WUSTL Police Department, will be held from noon-2 p.m. April 28 near the Clock Tower on the South 40.

The program is designed to provide members of the WUSTL community with information and skills to assist them in becoming safe bicycle riders. Several topics and skills for both the novice and experienced bicycle rider will be discussed and demonstrated.

Topics will include bike components and parts, proper bicycle fitting with seath and handlebar placement, general bike maintenance tips, bike laws and riding tips for all types of riders.

Police Officer Mark Werner, a bike mechanic with WUPD and an avid cyclist, will be available to answer questions and provide assistance and guidance regarding bike fitting and general bicycle maintenance issues.

Elise Henning, health education intern in Health Promotion and Wellness, will provide information on physical activity, nutrition and leading an active lifestyle.
