Thank you, teacher

Senior Sharad Wadhwani is reunited with his former French teacher Tracy Waters of Shorewood High School in Shorewood, Wis. Waters was in town to receive a 2007 Cornerstone Faculty Mentor Award — for which Wadhwani nominated her — March 21 in Holmes Lounge. The award, presented annually by Cornerstone: The Center for Advanced Learning, celebrates the significant impact a mentor can have on a student. “Mrs. Waters’ example has led to my success at Washington University because she taught me the meaning of passion and what the result of having a passion can be,” said Wadhwani, a psychology major in Arts & Sciences. Connie Schmollinger, who teaches English at Villa Duchesne School in St. Louis, also won a Cornerstone award; Katherine Martin, a senior in biology in Arts & Sciences, nominated Schmollinger for the award.
