Major health-care funding report to be released March 19

From noon-2 p.m. March 19, the U.S. Senate Labor-HHS Committee hearing on funding for the National Institutes of Health will be Webcast at appropriations.senate.gov.

Immediately following the hearing, the University and eight other leading academic institutions will release a major report on the flat funding by the National Institutes of Health for biomedical research in the United States. The report will state that consecutive years of stagnant budgets are threatening progress in combating cancer, Alzheimer’s disease, spinal cord injuries, HIV/AIDS, diabetes and obesity.

The report will be available after 2 p.m. on the School of Medicine’s Web site at medicine.wustl.edu.
