Jewell Thomas (right), a sophomore majoring in English and in math, both in Arts & Sciences, and Kemper Art Museum docent Danika Cooper explain the art in the “Reality Bites” exhibit to University City High School students who were on campus Feb. 15-16 for events in conjunction with The Big Read community reading project. The museum annotated education guides and tied the themes of several works of art in the exhibit to themes in “Fahrenheit 451,” the book chosen for this year’s Big Read program. Following the museum tour, the students watched a production of “1984” at Edison Theatre. Other public schools participating were Clayton and the City of St. Louis.
