2023-24 tuition, room, meal plans, fees announced

Undergraduate tuition will be $61,750 for the 2023-24 academic year — a $2,330 (3.9%) increase over the 2022-23 academic tuition of $59,420, announced Amy B. Kweskin, executive vice chancellor for finance and chief financial officer.

Edmond elected to social work society

Tonya Edmond, a professor and interim co-dean at the Brown School, has been inducted as a fellow of the American Academy of Social Work and Social Welfare (AASWSW) for 2023. The AASWSW is an honorific society of distinguished scholars and practitioners who are dedicated to achieving excellence in the field of social work and social welfare.

Beating the drum for Samulnori

Samulnori, a genre of traditional Korean percussion music, is among the many acts to perform at the annual Lunar New Year celebration, which will run Feb. 3-4 at Edison Theatre.

Two of WashU’s largest student groups are led by one very busy junior: John Jachimiak. As co-president of Heart for the Unhoused, Jachimiak travels to shelters across the region to conduct health screenings. And as president of the campus QuestBridge chapter, Jachimiak gives scholars resources, a voice and, most importantly, a community. 

Swamidass named AAAS fellow

S. Joshua Swamidass, MD, PhD, an associate professor of pathology and immunology at Washington University School of Medicine in St. Louis, has been named a fellow of the American Association for the Advancement of Science. He is recognized for applying machine learning to chemical biology and medicine, and for extraordinary public outreach promoting an understanding of science among communities of faith.
