Researchers led by Fuzhong Zhang at the McKelvey School of Engineering developed a synthetic biology tool to comprehensively reveal gene regulatory networks in E. coli.

Six Washington University in St. Louis faculty members are being honored by the Academy of Science – St. Louis for their outstanding contributions to the field. They will be recognized at an awards dinner Sept. 20 at the Missouri Botanical Garden.

Flu season is approaching. Some employees are required to get the flu vaccine, and all are encouraged to do so. Some clinics will be held in early October on the Danforth Campus, and flu shots are regularly available on the Medical Campus.

Vikas R. Dharnidharka, MD, a professor of pediatrics at Washington University School of Medicine in St. Louis, has been installed as the Alexis F. Hartmann Sr., MD, Professor of Pediatrics. He was installed in August on the Medical Campus. 

Emily Boyd, teaching professor in the Department of Mechanical Engineering & Materials Science at the McKelvey School of Engineering, has been selected to receive the 2023 American Society of Mechanical Engineers Lakshmi Singh Early Career Leadership Award.

Martha Precup, an assistant professor of mathematics and statistics in Arts & Sciences, has won a prestigious National Science Foundation award for a project uncovering patterns in complex data.

Applications are being accepted for the 2024 William H. Danforth St. Louis Confluence Award.

Lindsay Clukies, MD, an associate professor of pediatrics, and Mariam Malik, MD, an assistant professor of radiology, have been named the 2023-25 Carol B. and Jerome T. Loeb Teaching Fellows at the School of Medicine.

Yajie Yuan, an assistant professor of physics in Arts & Sciences, will lead a study of plasmas in neutron star magnetospheres, as part of a new collaboration funded by the Simons Foundation.
