Jeffrey I. Gordon, MD, the Dr. Robert J. Glaser Distinguished University Professor and director of the Edison Family Center for Genome Sciences & Systems Biology at the School of Medicine, has been recognized with the 2023 Albany Medical Center Prize in Medicine and Biomedical Research.

Petra Levin, a professor of biology in Arts & Sciences, was installed as a George William and Irene Koechig Freiberg Professor of Biology in a Sept. 19 ceremony held in Holmes Lounge. Her installation address was titled “The Environment Matters.”

Ruopeng An, an associate professor at the Brown School, has been accepted as a fellow in the American Academy of Health Behavior, the professional home for health behavior scholars and researchers.

The Marketing Science Institute has identified Sydney Scott, an assistant professor of marketing at Olin Business School, as a promising young scholar.

The National Institute on Aging, part of the National Institutes of Health (NIH), has awarded graduate student Lizzie Tilden an F30 fellowship that supports physician-scientists in training.  

Michelle M. Miller-Thomas, MD, and Monica Shokeen, associate professors of radiology, have been appointed to two new vice chair positions for the Mallinckrodt Institute of Radiology at the School of Medicine.

Washington University Libraries recently received a grant from the National Film Preservation Foundation for the photochemical preservation of a 1963 short film produced on the Washington University campus, titled “Once Upon a Hill … There was a School!”

Joe Steensma, a professor of practice at the Brown School, has been named Royal Academy of Engineering Visiting Professor at The Engineering & Design Institute London.

Todd Decker, a professor of musicology in Arts & Sciences, edited a special issue of American Music, marking the journal’s 40th anniversary.

Guy Genin, at the McKelvey School of Engineering, has been elected to serve a three-year term on the Society of Engineering Science board of directors. The society strengthens the interface between engineering, science and math.
