Serial startup founder and Olin Business School alumnus Doug Villhard has been named academic director for entrepreneurship at the business school. He takes over the role held by Cliff Holekamp, who stepped down in June.

Jeffrey Q. McCune Jr., associate professor of women, gender and sexuality studies and of African and African-American studies, both in Arts & Sciences, has been named co-editor of the inaugural “New Sexual Worlds” book series.

Clarissa Rile Hayward of Washington University in St. Louis is part of a new, all-women, racially and ethnically diverse editorial team that will lead her discipline’s flagship journal, the American Political Science Review (APSR). The American Political Science Association’s announcement of the new team comes at a time when diverse voices are underrepresented in both the authorship and editorship of many academic journals.

Julie Bugg, associate professor of psychological and brain sciences in Arts & Sciences, was elected a fellow of the Association for Psychological Science. 

Fangqiong Ling, assistant professor of energy, environmental and chemical engineering at the McKelvey School of Engineering, has received a Ralph E. Powe Junior Faculty Enhancement Award from Oak Ridge Associated Universities.

Beverly S. Brozanski, MD, a national leader in neonatal medicine and safety protocols in pediatric patient care, has been named vice chair of quality and safety in the Department of Pediatrics at the School of Medicine.

Jennifer G. Duncan, MD, and Justin S. Sadhu, MD, have been named the 2019-21 Carol B. and Jerome T. Loeb Teaching Fellows at Washington University School of Medicine in St. Louis.

William G. Powderly, MD, the Dr. J. William Campbell Professor of Medicine at the School of Medicine, has been named director of the university’s Institute of Clinical and Translational Sciences. The institute is funded by the National Institutes of Health (NIH).

Crickette Sanz, associate professor of biological anthropology in Arts & Sciences at Washington University in St. Louis, received the 2019 Ai’s Scarf Award, otherwise known as the Women-in-Primatology Award. The honor was announced in Kyoto, Japan, in advance of World Chimpanzee Day July 14, a celebration of “our closest cousin in the animal kingdom.”

James R. Duncan, MD, PhD, professor of radiology, has been named chief of interventional radiology for Mallinckrodt Institute of Radiology at the School of Medicine.
