For U.S. veteran Robbie Garrison, ­attending University College tuition-free was a dream come true. “One of my goals was to attend Washington University,” said Garrison, a first-generation college student. “I was not sure how I would afford it, until I learned about the Yellow Ribbon Program.”

The McDonnell International Scholars Academy has begun a special summer program for undergraduates. The McDonnell Academy International Leadership Institute (MAILI) is a five-week, summer academic experience for undergraduates from Washington University and the academy’s 28 international partner institutions.

On Saturday, Nov. 2, Washington University’s “family” will come from near and far to gather in St. Louis and celebrate its founding in 1853. The Washington University in St. Louis Police Department will implement its “Don’t be in the Dark” safety program to educate students about safely walking after dark beginning the evening of Monday, Nov. 4, and continuing through Thursday, Nov. 7.

The Washington University Police Department and Parking Services, in partnership with Hartmann’s Towing, will offer a free vehicle inspection service for WUSTL students, faculty and staff from noon-2:30 p.m. Saturday, Dec. 7, in the lower level of Millbrook Garage.
