Help the university recognize a staff member who goes above and beyond to help students, faculty or others in the WUSTL community by nominating him or her for the Gloria W. White Distinguished Service Award. The deadline to submit nominations is Feb. 21.

Leading Together: The Campaign for Washington University has raised a total of $1.459 billion, as of Jan. 31, from alumni, parents, faculty, staff, corporations, foundations and friends. The campaign was publicly announced Oct. 6, 2012. Its overarching goal is “to enhance our leadership today to benefit America and the world tomorrow.”

Washington University in St. Louis is a Tree Campus USA for the fourth year in a row, the Arbor Day Foundation recently announced. Tree Campus USA is a national program created in 2008 to honor colleges and universities for effective campus forest management and for engaging staff and students in conservation goals.

I-CARES (the International Center for Advanced Renewable Energy and Sustainability) has released its 2014 call for research proposals. I-CARES will award up to $500,000 this year in seed funding for innovative research projects to tenured and tenure-track faculty at Washington University in St. Louis.

Washington University in St. Louis faculty participated in the annual i teach symposium at the Knight Center earlier this month. It was a chance for faculty and staff from all seven schools to exchange ideas about innovative teaching across disciplines.

The Washington University in St. Louis Assembly Series turned 60 in 2013, and to mark such an august occasion, it’s fitting to remember why the lecture series was conceived in the first place. The Assembly Series launched during the institution’s centennial celebration in 1953 as a way to involve the broader St. Louis community in the robust intellectual life on campus.

Robyn S. Hadley, founder and executive director of the “What’s After High School” program in Burlington, N.C., has been named associate vice chancellor and director of the prestigious John B. Ervin Scholars Program at Washington University in St. Louis.

The Career Center welcomes organizations for two events this week – the Mosaic SLAM, from 6-7:30 p.m. Tuesday, Jan. 28, in Tisch Commons, and the Spring Internship & Job Career Fair, from 3-7 p.m. Wednesday, Jan. 29, in the Athletic Complex.

PB&Joy, WUSTL’s annual food drive, is looking for students, staff and faculty to assist in this year’s effort to collect kid-friendly foods for 135,000 St. Louis-area children.

Applications are now being accepted for Washington University in St. Louis students and faculty members interested in taking part in Tsinghua University’s annual English summer camp in Beijing. An information session will be held Feb. 10.
