Washington University and St. Louis community members are invited to bring their children to Safe Trick-or-Treat from 1-4 p.m. Sunday, Oct. 22, on Mudd Field on the Danforth Campus. WashU students lead families through trick-or-treating and other Halloween activities. RSVP by 5 p.m. Oct. 20.

For the first time, WashU sponsored a hot air balloon in the Great Forest Park Balloon Race, an annual hot air balloon festival held in Forest Park. “Time Traveler” was among the dozens of entrants that delighted the STL community Sept. 15-16, 2023.

Collegiate School of Medicine and Bioscience won accolades this summer as among the tops in Missouri and the nation. The Saint Louis Public Schools magnet high school was co-founded by the School of Medicine’s Will Ross, MD.

First-year MBA students at Olin Business School devoted more than 400 hours of service to the St. Louis community this summer through organizations including the Habitat for Neighborhood Business, Here to Stay, the Crisis Nursery of St. Louis, Annie Malone and the Delmar Devine.

The Gephardt Institute for Civic and Community Engagement invites WashU undergraduate and graduate students to apply for grants from the St. Louis Impact Fund, a new program that aims to connect students to community partners across the St. Louis.

The Washington University in St. Louis community is encouraged to donate to, and volunteer with, the 2023 United Way of Greater St. Louis annual campaign. Launching this week, the campaign will raise funds to support over 160 local nonprofits and more than 1 million people in the 16-county region.

Artificial light at night is making it more difficult to see the stars, especially in urban areas. The observatory at Tyson Research Center makes the most of its secluded location, offering a unique viewing experience.

Now in its 51st year, the Great Forest Park Balloon Glow and Race is a favorite St. Louis tradition. This year, WashU is sponsoring a balloon and the festival’s main stage. Students also have a chance to win a ride in WashU’s balloon.
