“EnviroSLAM: A Showcase of Environment, Energy and Sustainability at Washington University” will be held at 6 p.m. Wednesday, April 19, at the Saint Louis Art Museum.

At the Washington University in St. Louis Board of Trustees meeting March 3, the following faculty members were appointed with tenure or promoted with tenure, effective July 1 unless otherwise indicated.

Charles A. Goldfarb, MD, is a hand specialist who treats a range of patients, from children with birth differences to injured athletes. He is director of the Division of Pediatric and Adolescent Orthopaedic Surgery at Washington University School of Medicine in St. Louis.  

Christopher Stark, assistant professor of music in Arts & Sciences at Washington University in St. Louis, has been selected for a prestigious fellowship from the John Simon Guggenheim Memorial Foundation.

As part of the new parking plan, Washington University in St. Louis is announcing parking permit pricing for the 2017-18 academic year as well as details on the new lottery system, which is slated to open to faculty, staff and students Monday, April 17.

Saturday, April 15, Washington University students studying neuroscience will be sharing brainy demonstrations they have developed just for kids at the Amazing Brain Carnival, the featured activity at the St. Louis Science Center’s SciFest: Brain Matters.

High school science competitions are like oxygen and nitrogen — they’re everywhere. But the students behind the Washington University Chemistry Tournament have added new elements to old formula. Their event, now in its second year, focuses on collaboration, real-world applications and complex problem-solving — just like college chemistry.

Anna Quindlen, a best-selling author, Pulitzer Prize-winning journalist and social critic, will give the 2017 Commencement address at Washington University in St. Louis, according to Chancellor Mark S. Wrighton. He made the announcement to the Class of 2017 during the annual senior class toast April 4 in the Danforth University Center.
