Barbara Liebmann, who served in numerous staff positions during a long career at Washington University in St. Louis, died Nov. 8, 2022, of pancreatic cancer. She was 66.

The American College of Physicians has recognized three faculty members at the School of Medicine with national awards honoring excellence and distinguished contributions to internal medicine.

Alexander Hatoum, a research assistant professor of psychological and brain sciences in Arts & Sciences, won a five-year $897,120 award from the National Institutes of Health (NIH)’s National Institute on Alcohol Abuse and Alcoholism.

As the new adviser at the Washington University Office of Military & Veteran Services, Beverly Wagner is eager to help Washington University’s veterans, active-duty and Reserve and National Guard service members, as well as dependents and survivors, maximize their WashU experience.

Washington University Hip Hop Union specializes in commercial dance – the high-energy style that backup dancers typically perform at concerts and in music videos. They will perform, along with other student groups, in a showcase Saturday, Nov. 12.

Twenty research projects involving Washington University in St. Louis faculty and international collaborators recently were funded through the Global Incubator Seed Grant program.

Over the last year, a team of architects, medical professionals and engineers from Washington University in St. Louis and Chicago-based architecture firm Skidmore, Owings & Merrill have explored questions about building design and people’s health through interdisciplinary design studios and seminars. Now that research is bearing fruit. On Nov. 11, a new Smart Home for Occupational Therapy Healing — aka SMOOTH House — will break ground in St. Louis’ Delmar Maker District.
