Marie Bigham wants to radically reimagine college admissions.

Washington University in St. Louis alumnus and emeritus trustee Arnold B. Zetcher and his wife, Ellen, have made a significant commitment to establish an endowed scholarship for undergraduate students, announced Chancellor Andrew D. Martin.

Dorothy Elliott, founding assistant director of the John B. Ervin Scholars Program, died Jan. 24, 2021, at her home in St. Louis. She was 84. Affectionately known as Mrs. E., Elliott was a sounding board, champion and second mother to generations of Ervin scholars.

Princess Imoukhuede, associate professor, has been named director of diversity initiatives for the McKelvey School of Engineering. In addition, Jessica Wagenseil, associate professor, has been appointed vice dean for faculty advancement at the school, and she will serve as associate chair of the McKelvey Faculty Committee on Diversity, Equity and Inclusion.

The Washington University Equity and Inclusion Council recently released its first progress update. The council is charged with creating a process to build sustainable, lasting change on campus.

At the School of Medicine, orthopedic surgeon Eric W. Carson aims to increase diversity and mentorship in medicine.
