NASA and the European Space Agency chose Ryan Ogliore and Kun Wang, both in Arts & Sciences, for the Mars Sample Return Measurement Definition Team. This group will help realize the science potential of the first samples ever to be returned from another planet.

Amarasinghe awarded grant for Ebola virus research

Gaya Amarasinghe, the Alumni Endowed Professor of pathology and immunology at the School of Medicine, received a five-year $16.8 million grant renewal from the National Institute of Allergy and Infectious Diseases of the National Institutes of Health (NIH) for Ebola virus research.

University Libraries awarded grant to preserve born-digital poetry collections

Washington University Libraries received a two-year grant from the Mellon Foundation to support an exploration of essential questions surrounding the acquisition, discoverability, preservation and use of born-digital poetry collections. The $250,000 award will enable the libraries to develop online resources and systems to process, preserve and steward the collections of a new generation of digital-native poets.
