Anthropology’s Alyanak named Volkswagen postdoctoral fellow
Oguz Alyanak, an anthropology doctoral student in Arts & Sciences, has been selected for a Volkswagen Foundation Postdoctoral Fellowship in the Humanities to support his research on the social lives of working-class Muslim men in Germany, France and other European countries.
Bartley wins Sprout Award for best book in environmental studies
A book by Tim Bartley, professor of sociology in Arts & Sciences, has won the Harold and Margaret Sprout Award for best book from the International Studies Association’s Environmental Studies Section.
Pabjan wins 2019 Project Precast design competition
Kinga Pabjan, a master’s candidate in architecture and construction management in the Sam Fox School of Design & Visual Arts at Washington University in St. Louis, was part of a three-person team that won the 2019 Project Precast design competition.

McCune inducted to MLK Collegium of Scholars
Jeffrey Q. McCune Jr., associate professor of women, gender and sexuality studies and of African and African-American studies, both in Arts & Sciences at Washington University in St. Louis, will be inducted into the Martin Luther King Jr. Collegium of Scholars during a ceremony April 4 at Morehouse College in Atlanta.

Junior Ruoyi Gan and senior Madeline Halpern are representing the Sam Fox School of Design & Visual Arts in Varsity Art XXIII. Hosted by Art St. Louis, the annual exhibition features work by undergraduate and graduate students from St. Louis college and university-level art programs.
Lützeler to receive 2019 Friedrich Gundolf Prize
The German Academy for Language and Literature will award its 2019 Friedrich Gundolf Prizeto Paul Michael Lützeler, the Rosa May Distinguished University Professor in the Humanities in Arts & Sciences at Washington University in St. Louis.
