Byers named IRB executive chair
Derek E. Byers, MD, PhD, has been named executive chair of the university’s Institutional Review Board, which reviews and approves protocols for research studies that involve human subjects. He begins the new role Tuesday, Aug. 1.

Yongseok Shin, an expert on macroeconomics and economic growth, was installed as the inaugural Douglass C. North Distinguished Professor in Economics at Washington University in St. Louis during a recent ceremony.

Limor Golan, an expert in labor economics in Arts & Sciences at Washington University in St. Louis, was installed as the inaugural Laurence H. Meyer Professor at a ceremony in Holmes Lounge in March.
Singamaneni named Hughes Professor
Srikanth Singamaneni, an internationally renowned materials scientist, has been named the Lilyan and E. Lisle Hughes Professor in the McKelvey School of Engineering.
Zhu named Murty Professor of Engineering
Quing Zhu, a renowned biomedical engineer who has developed advanced imaging techniques to diagnose cancers of the reproductive system and in other areas, has been named the Edwin H. Murty Professor of Engineering in the McKelvey School of Engineering.
Payne installed as an inaugural Becker Professor
Philip R.O. Payne has been named an inaugural Janet and Bernard Becker Professor at the School of Medicine. He was installed by Chancellor Andrew D. Martin and David Perlmutter, MD, executive vice chancellor for medical affairs.
Njoku installed as Wise Chair in Pediatric Anesthesiology
Dolores B. Njoku, MD, the director of pediatric anesthesiology at the School of Medicine and anesthesiologist-in-chief at St. Louis Children’s Hospital, has been installed as the new Rudolph L. and Mary Frances Wise Endowed Chair in Pediatric Anesthesiology.
