Ting Wang, a national leader in genetics and genomics who has led groundbreaking studies in how the genome is regulated, has been named head of the Department of Genetics at the School of Medicine. A computational biologist, he will begin his new role Aug. 1.

Colin A. Martin, MD, a specialist in intestinal rehabilitation surgery and an advocate for diversity, equity and inclusion in surgery, has been named director of the Division of Pediatric Surgery in the Department of Surgery at the School of Medicine.

Jon Heleno, former deputy controller at Columbia University, has been appointed associate vice chancellor for finance – planning and budgets at Washington University, announced Amy B. Kweskin, executive vice chancellor for finance and chief financial officer.

Nicolae Gârleanu, an expert on asset pricing, was installed as the H. Frederick Hagemann Jr. Professor of Finance at Olin Business School during a ceremony May 8.

Dwight A. McBride, a leading scholar of race and literary studies, and president and University Professor at The New School in New York City, will join the faculty of Washington University in St. Louis. His appointment is effective Aug. 15.

At the Board of Trustees meeting May 5, numerous faculty members were appointed with tenure, promoted with tenure or granted tenure.

Ian Bogost has been named the Barbara and David Thomas Distinguished Professor at Washington University in St. Louis.

Darrell Hudson, an associate professor at the Brown School, will become director of the Center for the Study of Race, Ethnicity & Equity at Washington University in St. Louis, effective July 1. Hudson has served as an associate director for the past year.

Rafael Pardo, a bankruptcy and commercial law expert, was installed recently as the Walter D. Coles Professor of Law.

Tat Chan, an expert on economics and marketing, was installed recently as the Philip L. Siteman Professor of Marketing.
