David A. Hunstad, MD, a respected pediatric infectious diseases specialist and a national leader in pediatric research training, has been named the inaugural Arnold W. Strauss, MD, Endowed Professor for Mentoring at the School of Medicine.

The university has started the process to identify the inaugural dean of the new School of Public Health, planned its annual public health conference and announced a new Assembly Series speaker.

Petra Levin, a professor of biology in Arts & Sciences, was installed as a George William and Irene Koechig Freiberg Professor of Biology in a Sept. 19 ceremony held in Holmes Lounge. Her installation address was titled “The Environment Matters.”

Beverly Brozanski, MD, of Washington University School of Medicine in St. Louis, has been named the inaugural Susan and James C. Gould Professor of Pediatric Quality and Safety.

Michelle M. Miller-Thomas, MD, and Monica Shokeen, associate professors of radiology, have been appointed to two new vice chair positions for the Mallinckrodt Institute of Radiology at the School of Medicine.

Three new directors have been appointed within the Center for Career Engagement, announced Anna Gonzalez, vice chancellor for student affairs.

Vikas R. Dharnidharka, MD, a professor of pediatrics at Washington University School of Medicine in St. Louis, has been installed as the Alexis F. Hartmann Sr., MD, Professor of Pediatrics. He was installed in August on the Medical Campus. 

Lindsay Clukies, MD, an associate professor of pediatrics, and Mariam Malik, MD, an assistant professor of radiology, have been named the 2023-25 Carol B. and Jerome T. Loeb Teaching Fellows at the School of Medicine.

Feng Sheng Hu, dean of Arts & Sciences and the Lucille P. Markey Distinguished Professor in Arts & Sciences, was installed as the inaugural Richard G. Engelsmann Dean of Arts & Sciences during an Aug. 30 ceremony.

Neuroscientist Steven Mennerick, the John P. Feighner Professor of Neuropsychopharmacology at the School of Medicine, has been named director and associate dean of the Roy and Diana Vagelos Division of Biology & Biomedical Sciences.
