Mark V. Williams, MD, a respected leader in hospital medicine, performance improvement and health-care delivery, has been named director of the Division of Hospital Medicine in the Department of Medicine at Washington University School of Medicine. His appointment takes effect Oct. 1.

William B. Tolman has been appointed vice dean of research and entrepreneurship in Arts & Sciences, Dean Feng Sheng Hu announced. Tolman is the William Greenleaf Eliot Professor of Chemistry. 

Asquith S. “Sean” Armstrong, executive director for continuing education at the University of Central Florida in Orlando, has been named dean of University College at Washington University in St. Louis, effective Nov. 1. 

Leila Sadat, at the School of Law, and Kim Thuy Seelinger, at the Brown School, have been appointed special advisers to the International Criminal Court at The Hague.

Sophia Hayes, professor of chemistry, has been appointed interim vice dean of graduate education in Arts & Sciences, announced Feng Sheng Hu, dean of the Faculty of Arts & Sciences.

Russell K. Osgood, visiting professor of law, has been named interim dean of the School of Law at Washington University in St. Louis, announced Beverly Wendland, provost and executive vice chancellor for academic affairs.

Carmen R. Bergom, MD, PhD, associate professor of radiation oncology at Washington University School of Medicine, has been elected to a three-year term as a councilor-at-large for the Radiation Research Society.

Mark S. Wrighton, chancellor emeritus and the James and Mary Wertsch Distinguished University Professor of Chemistry at Washington University, has been appointed interim president of George Washington University.

Melissa Rockwell-Hopkins, whose position has her overseeing more than $1 billion in construction projects at the School of Medicine, has been named the school’s associate vice chancellor for operations and facilities management.

Jeff M. Michalski, MD, the Carlos A. Perez Distinguished Professor and vice chair and director of clinical programs in the Department of Radiation Oncology at the School of Medicine, has been elected president-elect of the American Society for Radiation Oncology board of directors.
