Hook named director of law library
Peter Hook has been appointed director and associate dean of the Law Library at the School of Law. Hook, who comes to the university from the University of Notre Dame Law School, will begin his role July 1.

Herzog installed as Viktor Hamburger Distinguished Professor
Erik Herzog, a professor of biology, was installed as the Viktor Hamburger Distinguished Professor in Arts & Sciences. His talk was titled “For Whom the Bells Toll: Networked Circadian Clocks and Clock Watchers.”

David Valentine-Elam has been named the inaugural chief privacy officer at Washington University, announced Monica Allen, vice chancellor and general counsel. In his role, Valentine-Elam works to ensure that the information of students, faculty, staff and research participants is protected.
