The Washington University Danforth Staff Council has elected its executive officers for the academic year and added five new members.

Dallas-based artist Tamara Johnson will serve as the Sam Fox School’s next Henry L. and Natalie E. Freund Teaching Fellow. Designed to promote the creation and exhibition of contemporary art, the appointment is sponsored in collaboration with the Saint Louis Art Museum, which will present a solo exhibition of Johnson’s work in fall 2023.

Nancy K. Sweitzer, MD, PhD, a professor of medicine, has been named vice chair of clinical research for the Department of Medicine and director of clinical research for the Cardiovascular Division at Washington University School of Medicine.

Nicole Gore has been appointed associate dean for student conduct and community standards at Washington University in St. Louis, announced Robert Wild, associate vice chancellor for student affairs. Gore had served as senior assistant dean for Arts & Sciences. Gore’s appointment took effect Aug. 15. 

Renée Shellhaas, MD, has been named associate dean for faculty promotions and career development at Washington University School of Medicine. She comes to the school from the University of Michigan and begins her new role in October.

Chancellor Andrew D. Martin and Provost Beverly Wendland have appointed an 11-member committee to identify candidates for the position of dean of the Olin Business School at Washington University in St. Louis.

Grace Chapin James, formerly director of student recruitment and admissions at the University of Chicago’s Booth School of Business, has been appointed executive director of admissions at Washington University in St. Louis, announced Ronné Turner, vice provost for admissions and financial aid.

Brianne Burcke has been named associate vice chancellor for finance and chief of staff to Amy Kweskin, executive vice chancellor of finance, at Washington University in St. Louis.

The Washington University Board of Trustees has four new student representatives for the 2022-23 academic year.

Deanna Barch, chair and professor of psychological and brain sciences, has been named vice dean of research in Arts & Sciences. Her new role took effect July 1.
