McKelvey School of engineering faculy Zhen (Jason) He, Young-Shin Jun, Vijay Ramani and Fuzhong Zhang will lead new projects focused on clean energy technologies thanks to $10.7 million in new funding, collectively, from the U.S. Department of Energy.

Arts & Sciences’ Calvin Lai received a $230,000 grant from the Templeton World Charity Foundation to lead an interdisciplinary effort to develop discrimination interventions.

Maxwell Greenberg, a postdoctoral fellow in the Department of Jewish, Islamic, and Middle Eastern Studies in Arts & Sciences, has won a Warburg Research Grant for his work on Jewish pioneers in the American Southwest. In addition, Greenberg’s research on Jewish pioneer cemeteries will be used in Reconstructionist Rabbinical College’s new project on race, religion and Judaism.

Thomas De Fer, MD, and Victoria J. Fraser, MD, both of the School of Medicine, have been awarded mastership in the American College of Physicians, one of the highest honors available to internists.

Ulugbek Kamilov at the McKelvey School of Engineering has twice been awarded a grant for cutting-edge imaging research.

Washington University School of Medicine’s Jeffrey Gordon, MD, has received the inaugural David and Beatrix Hamburg Award for Advances in Biomedical Research and Clinical Medicine from the National Academy of Medicine. Gordon is regarded as the father of the field of microbiome research.
