Washington University faculty hosted a one-week seminar designed to connect high school teachers to experts and resources in local Black history and culture.

Talented high school students from rural communities in Missouri and southern Illinois lived and learned at Washington University in St. Louis, where they discovered more about life on campus and in St. Louis. The cohort took a class with Sam Fox School faculty, learned the ins and outs of the college application and explored local attractions.

Four popular locally owned restaurants will open locations on campus in August. Newcomers include Beast Craft BBQ, Collins Farms, Corner 17 and the Fattened Caf. In addition, Olin Business School will replace the Starbucks in Bauer Hall with a coffee bar that features local roasters.

Isabel Huesa, a rising senior in Arts & Sciences, is participating  in the U.S. Department of State’s prestigious Critical Language Scholarship Program.

Launched in 2014, WashU’s College Prep Program is a free, immersive learning experience that prepares talented local high school students for college life. During their first Summer Academy experience on campus, the scholars engaged for two weeks in workshops and undergraduate coursework ranging from science experiments to writing poetry.

This fall, Washington University will launch a new mental health doctoral training program that will expand clinical mental health services on campus while cultivating a new generation of expert psychologists. 

University College is now the School of Continuing & Professional Studies (CAPS). The new name reflects the university’s commitment to serve the needs of St. Louis’ adult learners of all ages and backgrounds.

The Career Center has announced the inaugural cohort of the Pershing Fellowship in Nonprofit Leadership, an innovative internship program that connects rising juniors and seniors to leading nonprofit and community organizations. The university will provide fellows a competitive $10,000 stipend.
