Washington University’s new Center for the Environment begins its work, another step forward in the “Here and Next” strategic plan.

The Bear Bucks cashless account system has made changes and can now only be used at campus locations.

Dwight A. McBride, a leading scholar of race and literary studies, and president and University Professor at The New School in New York City, will join the faculty of Washington University in St. Louis. His appointment is effective Aug. 15.

The new St. Louis Confluence Award recognizes and elevates the strength and impact of the work led by community-minded researchers, their partners and university collaborators. The inaugural recipient is the Brown School’s Matthew Kreuter.

The Share Our Stuff collection drive is getting underway at WashU, helping to keep items out of landfills as students move out.

The university will soon transition to a new dining partnership for the Bear’s Den, Danforth University Center, the Village Café, concessions and catering.

The WashU community is invited to watch online Chancellor Andrew D. Martin’s annual State of the University address at 2 p.m. Thursday, March 23. Martin will update the university’s progress during the past year and focus on three main pillars: academic distinction, student access and our commitment to St. Louis.

Foreign affairs specialist Fiona Hill will give an in-person chat at WashU on Thursday, Jan. 26, an Assembly Series event. The topic: Russia’s invasion of Ukraine.
