Four School of Medicine nurses have received the 2015 Excellence in Nursing Award from St. Louis Magazine, honoring local nurses who have made a difference in the lives of their patients and colleagues. The award winners were announced in April. They are:
- Mary Zerlan, a nurse anesthetist and doctor of nursing practice in the Department of Anesthesiology, who won top honors in acute care;
- Corri Payton, a nurse and nurse practitioner in the Department of Orthopaedic Surgery, who won the top award in the community care/ambulatory care category;
- Donelle Sherman, a nurse practitioner in the Department of Orthopaedic Surgery, who won the top honor in orthopedics; and
- Jennifer Wofford, nurse and nurse practitioner in the Department of Pediatrics, Division of Hematology & Oncology, who won top honors in the oncology category and received a perfect score from award judges.
In addition, nine other School of Medicine nurses were finalists in the program, which gave awards in 16 categories. The Washington University finalists were:
- Mandy Drozda, Department of Pediatrics, Division of Hematology & Oncology;
- Bernadette Henrichs, PhD, director of the Certified Registered Nurse Anesthetist Program in the Department of Anesthesiology;
- Charis Hoffman, Department of Medicine, Division of Hematology & Oncology, Siteman Cancer Center-South County;
- Kathleen Jay, Department of Pediatrics, Division of Genetics & Genomics Medicine;
- Tammy Koch, Department of Medicine, Division of Pulmonary & Critical Care;
- Caroline Mohrmann, Department of Pediatrics, Division of Hematology & Oncology;
- Meredith Moyer, Department of Orthopaedic Surgery;
- Donna Richardson, Department of Pediatrics, Division of Newborn Medicine; and
- Kathy Sisco, Department of Psychiatry, Division of Child and Adolescent Psychiatry.
