Some 40 graduate and professional students within the McDonnell International Scholars Academy at Washington University in St. Louis shared their respective cultures with the general public Nov. 19 during “Planet Passport: Your Journey to Our Multicultural World,” an interactive fair at the Saint Louis Science Center. Above, Yu Sun Chung, left, a Korea University Scholar in the psychology doctoral program in Arts & Sciences, introduces a traditional Korean drum to a child. The child’s mother, Ni Luh Putu Maitra Agastya, is an alumna of the McDonnell Academy and received a master’s degree in social work from the Brown School in May. Below, Shota Fujishima, a University of Tokyo Scholar in the economics doctoral program in Arts & Sciences, writes visitors’ names in Japanese. An estimated 700 people attended the event.
