He serves on the university’s New York Regional Cabinet. Bauer spent 31 years at IBM Corp., where he held a number of executive positions in marketing, finance and business systems until retiring in the mid-1990s to start an investment banking firm, GPB Group Ltd. Carol Bauer has served in many nonprofit leadership roles, including as chairman of the board of Norwalk Hospital in Norwalk, Conn., and she is distinguished for her role as a philanthropist. In his research, Bunderson studies organizational and team dynamics that promote learning, innovation and meaningful work. “I am truly honored to be the inaugural recipient of this chair and to be associated with quality people like George and Carol Bauer,” Bunderson says.
