School of Medicine students learn belly dancing from instructor Penny Moskus as part of a week’s worth of events last month emphasizing the four parts of a healthier life: diet, physical activity, tobacco cessation and responsible alcohol consumption. The American Medical Association chose “Healthier Life Steps” as its theme on which to focus its community service and chapter activities for two years. During the week of Nov. 16, activities at the medical school included a talk on activity-friendly communities; a mocktails night; a fitness night, in which students learned belly dancing, Zumba and Pilates; a smoke-free bar night; and hiking in Castlewood State Park.
