Gene linked to respiratory distress in babies

A study is the first to identify a single gene that is associated with a significant number of cases of respiratory distress syndrome in babies born at or near full term.​ WUSTL pediatrician Jennifer A. Wambach is the study’s lead author. Findings will be published in the December issue of Pediatrics.

Coffee house concert Nov. 29

The medical school’s Student Arts Commission is hosting a “Coffee House Concert” from 5:15-7 p.m. Thursday, Nov. 29, in the second floor atrium of the Farrell Learning and Teaching Center. The concert showcases students’ musical and performance talents.

Renew employee U-Pass to ride MetroLink, Metro buses for free

The employee 2011-12 U-Pass — allowing WUSTL faculty and staff free use of Metro, the region’s public transportation system — will expire June 30. Benefits-eligible employees may request a new U-Pass for the 2012-13 fiscal year at the Parking & Transportation Services website, parking.wustl.edu/upass.htm. The new pass will be valid through June 30, 2013.
