Sports update Dec. 5: Men’s basketball shocks Augustana to win Lopata Classic
The men’s basketball team upset No. 1 and previously unbeaten Augustana College, 71-68, to win the 28th Annual Lopata Classic Dec. 3 at the WU Field House. Updates also included on women’s basketball, swimming and diving, track and field, and the 2011 class of inductees into the Washington University Sports Hall of Fame.
Sports update Nov. 21: Women’s cross country wins first national title
The women’s cross country team raced to the program’s first-ever national title at the 2011 NCAA Division III Cross Country Championship held Nov. 19 at Lake Breeze Golf Club in Winneconne, Wis. Updates also included on women’s soccer, men’s and women’s basketball and swimming and diving.

Sports update Nov. 7: Volleyball wins 20th UAA title
The No. 3 volleyball team rallied from an 0-2 deficit to defeat No. 2 Emory University in the 2011 UAA championship match Nov. 5 in New York. The UAA title is a school-record 20th in WUSTL history, and the first since 2008. Updates also included on men’s and women’s soccer, football, swimming & diving, and women’s basketball.

Sports update Oct. 24: Football wins again
Junior quarterback Dan Burkett threw for two touchdowns and ran for another score as the WUSTL football team posted a 24-21 win at Oberlin College Oct. 22. Updates also included on men’s and women’s soccer.

Sports update Oct. 10: Volleyball sets NCAA Div. III record
The No. 2 volleyball team set a new Division III record for consecutive set victories in a 3-0 win over Lindenwood University (25-13, 25-17, 25-16) at the Washington University Invitational Oct. 8. Updates also included in football, men’s and women’s soccer, golf and swimming & diving.
Sports update Sept. 26: Men’s soccer suffers first loss
The No. 4 men’s soccer team saw its seven-game winning streak to start the season come to an end with a 3-1 loss at No. 15 Dominican University Sept. 25 in River Forest, Ill. Updates also on football, men’s tennis, women’s golf, women’s soccer and cross country.
Sports update Sept. 19: Volleyball off to best start ever
