The Sustainability Exchange: Interdisciplinary class tackles real-world problems

This spring, the schools of Engineering & Applied Science, Arts & Sciences and the Sam Fox School of Design & Visual Arts at Washington University in St. Louis launched “The Sustainability Exchange,” a unique course bringing students from across campus together to work on interdisciplinary teams to tackle real-world challenges in energy, environment and sustainability.

​The Sam Fox School of Design & Visual Arts will present its 86th Annual Fashion Design Show at 3 p.m. Sunday, April 26. The fully choreographed, Paris-style extravaganza, which takes place in Union Station, will features dozens of models wearing scores of outfits by 27 sophomore, junior and senior designers.

In 1972, a group of 20 New York artists founded the A.I.R. Gallery, the first not-for-profit cooperative exhibition space for women artists in the United States. On Tuesday, March 31, former A.I.R. director Kat Griefen will serve as keynote speaker for “A.I.R. Refreshed: Women in the Art World from the 1970s to Today” at Olin Library on the campus of Washington University in St. Louis.

Two Master of Landscape Architecture candidates in the Sam Fox School of Design & Visual Arts at Washington University in St. Louis have won Student Chapter Awards from the American Society of Landscape Architects’ St. Louis Chapter.
