Every spring semester since 2003, the University community has focused on the three Rs — reduce, reuse and recycle — as participants in RecycleMania, an annual competition that pits WUSTL against colleges and universities throughout the United States to see which campus can prevent the most materials from landing in a landfill. The current semester is no exception. The 2008 RecycleMania competition began Jan. 27 and ends April 5.
Mary J. Sansalone, Ph.D., dean and professor at the Washington University in St. Louis School of Engineering and Applied Science, who since July 2006 has directed the renewal of the school, has announced today her intention to step down from her position as dean at the end of the academic year to devote herself to teaching, research and other forms of University service.
