WUPD provides tips to help students stay safe in the dark
The Washington University in St. Louis Police Department will implement its “Don’t be in the Dark” safety program to educate students about safely walking after dark beginning the evening of Monday, Nov. 4, and continuing through Thursday, Nov. 7.
Gill, Lu to promote safety of cars, planes and other cyber-physical systems
Christopher Gill, PhD, has received a four-year, $398,000 grant from the National Science Foundation to promote the improved safety of cyber-physical systems such as cars and planes.
Free vehicle inspections offered Dec. 7
The Washington University Police Department and Parking Services, in partnership with Hartmann’s Towing, will offer a free vehicle inspection service for WUSTL students, faculty and staff from noon-2:30 p.m. Saturday, Dec. 7, in the lower level of Millbrook Garage.

Civitelli named president of bone, mineral society
Roberto Civitelli, MD, the Sydney M. and Stella H. Schoenberg Professor of Medicine, has been elected president of the American Society for Bone and Mineral Research (ASBMR), the world’s leading scientific organization for bone health research.
Parkview Place closes temporarily Nov. 1
Utility work for the Campus Renewal Project on the Medical Campus will require the temporary closure of Parkview Place Friday, Nov. 1, starting at 11 a.m. The work is expected to continue for eight to 10 hours.

WUSTL faculty and staff invited to learn “the Dancellor” for the 15th annual Dance Marathon Nov. 9 at the Athletic Complex. The event raises money for the Children’s Miracle Network.

Anthony Odibo, MD, specializes in identifying and treating high-risk pregnancies using ultrasound and genetic testing. In his research, he evaluates the effectiveness of fetal surgeries and diagnostic techniques before birth.

Women’s Society accepting grant requests for community projects through October
The Women’s Society of Washington University Funding Committee is accepting grant requests until Thursday, Oct. 31, for projects or activities that benefit the WUSTL community. Projects should enhance and enrich the campus’ artistic, cultural and educational experience; reflect diversity; or encourage students’ community service and leadership.
