Trustees meet, discuss graduate and professional education

The Friday, Dec. 4, meeting of the Washington University in St. Louis Board of Trustees focused on graduate and professional education, according to Chancellor Mark S. Wrighton. The board also elected a new trustee. Distinguished alumnus F. Gilbert Bickel III (BSBA ’66), a senior vice president with Wells Fargo Advisors, was elected as a new Ethan A.H. Shepley Trustee.

Fortner receives SNO Emerging Investigator Award​

John Fortner, PhD, assistant professor in the School of Engineering & Applied Science at Washington University in St. Louis, has received the 2015 Sustainable Nanotechnology Organization Emerging Investigator Award.​

Mossotti, Ward-Brown win Regional Arts Commission Artist Fellowships

Denise Ward-Brown, associate professor in the Sam Fox School of Design & Visual Arts at Washington University in St. Louis, and poet Travis Mossotti, a grant analyst in the university’s Office of the Vice Chancellor for Research, are among 10 recipients of the Regional Arts Commission’s 2015 Artist Fellowships.

New shuttle routes begin Nov. 30

Now that most roadwork at Washington University Medical Center has been completed, the shuttle buses have been rerouted and renamed to accommodate employees. The new routes will begin Nov. 30. The buses now will be identified with a name instead of by a color.

Food drive on campus Nov. 13

Adjunct faculty members at Washington University in St. Louis and the Student Worker Alliance are holding a food drive Nov. 13 to benefit the Gateway 180 shelter and the St. Patrick Center. Canned goods and fruits and vegetables that will keep, such as apples and potatoes, are welcome, along with personal care items. Donations may be dropped off in the Brookings Hall archway between 11 a.m. and 3 p.m. Friday, Nov. 13.
