Joan L. Luby, MD, the Samuel and Mae S. Ludwig Professor of Psychiatry at Washington University School of Medicine in St. Louis, has received the Ruane Prize for Child & Adolescent Psychiatry from the Brain & Behavior Research Foundation.

Lee named co-director of Center for the Study of Race, Ethnicity & Equity
Hedwig Lee, professor of sociology in Arts & Sciences at Washington University in St. Louis, has been named co-director of the Center for the Study of Race, Ethnicity & Equity (CRE²) at Washington University. Lee had served as one of the center’s associate directors since its beginning in 2019.
Fitzpatrick named a Chan Zuckerberg Initiative Imaging Scientist
James Fitzpatrick, professor of neuroscience and of cell biology and physiology at the School of Medicine and director of the Washington University Center for Cellular Imaging, is one of 22 researchers worldwide named a Chan Zuckerberg Imaging Scientist by the Chan Zuckerberg Initiative.
Free vehicle inspections available
The Washington University Police Department and Parking & Transportation Services, in partnership with Woodard’s Automotive, again will offer free vehicle inspections to university students, faculty and staff. People may bring their vehicle to Woodard’s Automotive in University City between 7 a.m. and 6 p.m. Monday through Friday from Dec. 7-18.

Catalano named mineralogical society fellow
Jeff Catalano, professor of earth and planetary sciences in Arts & Sciences, was elected a fellow of the Mineralogical Society of America. The honor recognizes Catalano’s outstanding contributions to the advancement of the fields of mineralogy, crystallography, geochemistry and petrology.

Professors Emeriti meeting planned Dec. 14
The university Society of Professors Emeriti group will hold its regular monthly meeting at 12:30 p.m. Dec. 14 via Zoom. Judith W. Mann, curator of European Art to 1800 at the Saint Louis Art Museum, will discuss the work of artist Sebastiano Luciani.
