Jason S. Goldfeder, MD, a revered teacher in the Division of Medical Education of the Department of Medicine at the School of Medicine, died Dec. 9, 2015, following a 12-year battle with amyotrophic lateral sclerosis (ALS).

Patrick “Pat” Burton, director of financial administration in Alumni & Development Programs at Washington University, died unexpectedly Tuesday, Sept. 29, 2015, at his home in Wildwood, Mo. He was 51.

Douglass C. North, PhD, co-recipient of the 1993 Nobel Memorial Prize in Economic Sciences and the Spencer T. Olin Professor Emeritus in Arts & Sciences at Washington University in St. Louis, died Monday, Nov. 23, 2015, at his summer home in Benzonia, Mich. He was 95.

Stuart Weiss, MD, a beloved, longtime professor of clinical neurology at Washington University School of Medicine, died Oct. 27, 2015, in St. Louis. He was 85.

Robert J. Iversen, a third-year student in the School of Law at Washington University in St. Louis, died recently. Iversen was 39. An accomplished and involved law student, Iversen was expected to earn a juris doctoris in May 2016.

Lisa Cristine Simone, 25, a doctoral candidate in the Program in Physical Therapy at Washington University School of Medicine, died unexpectedly Sept. 29, 2015, in St. Louis.

Timothy Blair Burnight, 28, a doctoral candidate in the Program in Physical Therapy at Washington University School of Medicine, died unexpectedly Sept. 4, 2015, at Barnes-Jewish Hospital.

Neil Bernstein, JD, professor of law emeritus at Washington University in St. Louis, died Friday, Aug. 7, 2015. He was 83.

Ernst K. Zinner, PhD, research professor emeritus of physics and earth and planetary sciences in Arts & Sciences at Washington University in St. Louis, died Thursday, July 30, of medical complications of mantle cell lymphoma. Among many other accomplishments, in 1987 Zinner identified for the first time material in the laboratory that predated the formation of the solar system 4.6 billion years ago.

Mary Dell Olin Pritzlaff, a trustee emerita of Washington University in St. Louis, died Saturday, July 18, 2015, surrounded by family at her home in Santa Barbara, Calif. She was 85.
