Cathy Rodgers, former fashion design faculty member in the Sam Fox School of Design & Visual Arts, died April 6 at her home in Ladue. She was 87. She taught tailoring and pattern-making to generations of designers, including such fashion luminaries as Carolyne Roehm, Kay Unger, Judd Waddell and Paul Dillinger.

James W. Davis, professor emeritus of political science at Washington University in St. Louis, a role model for faculty who was also beloved by students for decades, died Wednesday, April 27, 2016, at Barnes-Jewish Hospital. He was 80.

Sophomore Sarah Longyear died by suicide April 22 in her hometown of Palo Alto, Calif. She was 19. Advisers remember her as a kind and curious student who excelled academically but struggled with depression.

H. Edwin Trusheim, emeritus trustee of the board of Washington University in St. Louis, died March 23, 2016. He was 88.

Michael C. Purdy, a medical sciences writer in the Office of Medical Public Affairs, died Thursday, April 14, 2016, in St. Peters, Mo. He was 47.

Danny Kohl, a professor emeritus of biology in Arts & Sciences at Washington University in St. Louis, died Saturday, March 12, 2016. He was 87. A memorial service will be held April 9.

Edward T. (Tad) Foote II, dean of the Washington University School of Law in St. Louis from 1973-1980, died of complications from Parkinson’s disease Monday, Feb. 15, 2016, in Cutler Bay, Fla. He was 78.

Donald E. Lasater, a former member of the Washington University in St. Louis Board of Trustees, died of natural causes Friday, Feb. 5, 2016, at Missouri Baptist Medical Center in St. Louis. He was 90.

Wilfred R. Konneker, PhD ’50, a trustee emeritus of Washington University, died Thursday, Jan. 7, 2016, in St. Louis. He was 93.

Herbert (Herb) Weitman, who served as director of photographic services at Washington University for more than four decades, died Tuesday, Jan. 12, 2016, at Missouri Baptist Medical Center in St. Louis. He was 89.
