Peter P. Gaspar, professor emeritus of chemistry in Arts & Sciences at Washington University in St. Louis, died Saturday, July 27, 2019, in St. Louis, following a long illness. He was 84.

Merton C. Bernstein, the Walter D. Coles Professor of Law Emeritus at Washington University in St. Louis, died at his home in Brewster, Mass., on Aug. 3, 2019. He was 96.

Dylan Wallace, a 2019 graduate who studied environmental earth science and anthropology in Arts & Sciences at Washington University in St. Louis, died in an accidental drowning in his hometown of Chicago on Friday, June 28, 2019. He was 22.

George J. Broze Jr., MD, a well-known leader in the field of hematology and a professor of medicine at Washington University School of Medicine in St. Louis, died of a heart attack June 19, 2019, at his home in St. Louis County. He was 72.

Kelley Ann Mullen, senior director of scheduling services and service quality for Washington University School of Medicine’s faculty practice, died at her home Tuesday, May 21, 2019, after a brief illness. A deeply kind, calming and dedicated leader, Mullen was beloved by her colleagues. She was 57.

Lloyd “Bob” Brown Sr., a 30-year faculty member in the Department of Electrical Engineering in the McKelvey School of Engineering, died May 25, 2019. He was 94.

Andrew B. Craig III, emeritus trustee of Washington University in St. Louis, died May 24, 2019, in Naples, Fla., where he lived. He was 88. A memorial service will be held at 10:30 a.m. June 10 at Ladue Chapel in St. Louis.

Stanley E. Thawley, MD, professor emeritus of otolaryngology-head and neck surgery at the School of Medicine, died Jan. 22 while at work in St. Louis. His care for patients, including veterans, extended to the rural communities of Madison and Ste. Genevieve counties.

C. David Gutsche, professor emeritus of chemistry in Arts & Sciences at Washington University in St. Louis, died Aug. 28, 2018, in Seattle. Gutsche was 97.

Joseph Kurz, professor emeritus of chemistry at Washington University in St. Louis, died Jan. 2, 2019, at Missouri Baptist Medical Center in St. Louis County. His health had declined over the past several years. Kurz was 85.
