Two Washington University faculty members have received awards from the Radiation Research Society recognizing their contributions to research in the field and their service to the society.

Rajendra S. Apte, MD, PhD, associate professor of ophthalmology and visual sciences and of developmental biology, has been chosen to receive the 2013 Young Investigator Award from the Macula Society.

Leila Nadya Sadat, JD, the Henry H. Oberschelp Professor of Law at Washington University in St. Louis, added another international honor to her resumé recently when she was appointed special adviser on Crimes Against Humanity by the prosecutor at the International Criminal Court.

Third-year medical student Elaine Khoong has received a prestigious Herbert W. Nickens Medical Student Scholarship from the Association of American Medical Colleges. ​

Edward Geltman, MD, professor of medicine, has been named the first recipient of the Philip A. Ludbrook Award. The award will be given annually to a member of the Institutional Review Board (IRB) for outstanding service and dedication to the protection of human subjects involved in research.

The U.S. Government Printing Office honored Olin Library for excellence as a Federal Depository Library. The library received praise for training other librarians.

Panos Kouvelis, PhD, senior associate dean and director of executive programs at Olin Business School and an expert in the field of supply chain management, has been named to the U.S. Commerce Department’s new Advisory Committee on Supply Chain Competitiveness.

C. Robert Cloninger, MD, the Wallace Renard Professor of Psychiatry at Washington University School of Medicine in St. Louis, received an honorary doctorate at the University of Gothenburg in Sweden in a ceremony Oct. 17.
