Sean M. Savoie, senior lecturer in drama and coordinator of the design-technical theater program in Arts & Sciences at Washington University in St. Louis, taught a professional development class at the Entertainment Technology New Zealand Inc. (ETNZ) 2015 Conference: “Big Steps Forward.”

Wilmetta Toliver-Diallo, PhD, assistant dean in the College of Arts & Sciences and senior lecturer in African and African-American Studies at Washington University in St. Louis, has been appointed to University City’s Municipal Commission on Arts & Letters.

Yuntong Ma, a fourth-year medical student at Washington University School of Medicine, has received a 2015 Gates Cambridge Scholarship to pursue graduate studies at the University of Cambridge in England.

Larry Taber, PhD, the Dennis and Barbara Kessler Professor of Biomedical Engineering at Washington University in St. Louis, and four co-authors received the 2015 Richard Skalak Award for the best paper published in 2014 in the Journal of Biomechanical Engineering.

Kimberly Jade Norwood, JD, professor of law, in the School of Law, and of African and African-American Studies, in Arts & Sciences, at Washington University in St. Louis, was appointed to the newly formed Supreme Court Municipal Division Work Group to review the state’s municipal court system.

A new publication, “Who’s Who Diversity in Color,” recently released its inaugural edition. The publication highlights minorities from the St. Louis region who have positively influenced their workplace or community, and eight faculty and staff members of Washington University in St. Louis are featured in the publication.

Robyn S. Hadley, associate vice chancellor for students and director of the Ervin Scholars Program at Washington University in St. Louis, recently was honored by the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill Alumni Association with a 2015 Distinguished Service Medal.

Thomas Ferkol, who graduated from Washington University in St. Louis in May with a bachelor’s degree in psychology in Arts & Sciences, and studied writing and music throughout his undergraduate career, was accepted into the University of Cincinnati College-Conservatory of Music (CCM)’s summer film-scoring program.

Michael Mullins, MD, associate professor of emergency medicine at Washington University School of Medicine, recently completed the Harvard Global Clinical Scholars Research Training program through Harvard Medical School. The program provides clinicians and clinician-scientists advanced training in clinical research.

Michal Grinstein-Weiss, PhD, associate professor and associate director of the Center for Social Development (CSD) at the Brown School at Washington University in St. Louis, received a one-year, $100,000 grant from the Annie E. Casey Foundation to continue the Refund to Savings partnership.
