Jeffrey Bradley, MD, the S. Lee Kling Professor of Radiation Oncology at Washington University School of Medicine in St. Louis, has been named one of 23 fellows this year by the American Society for Radiation Oncology.

Robert E. Criss, professor of earth and planetary sciences in Arts & Sciences at Washington University in St. Louis, has received this year’s Lewis C. Green Environmental Service Award in recognition of his long-term commitment to raising awareness of increased flooding risks and the dangers of floodplain development and inaccurate flood studies.

Four Arts & Sciences faculty were honored during the school’s annual faculty welcome reception, held Sept. 11 in Holmes Lounge. Dean Barbara Schaal presented faculty awards to (from left) Jean Allman, Geoff Childs, Eric Brown and Amanda Carey.

Arpita Bose, assistant professor of biology in Arts & Sciences at Washington University in St. Louis, was one of 10 women scientists at universities across the United States to receive a $2,500 grant from L’Oreal and the American Association for the Advancement of Science for projects focused on engaging girls and women in science.

Graham Colditz, MD, PhD, of the  Washington University School of Medicine in St. Louis, has been named chair of a National Academies of Sciences workshop.

Michael L. Gross, professor of chemistry in Arts & Sciences at Washington University in St. Louis, has been named recipient of the 2018 American Chemical Society Award in Analytical Chemistry, sponsored by the Battelle Memorial Institute.

Azad Bonni, MD, PhD, the Edison Professor and head of the Department of Neuroscience at Washington University School of Medicine in St. Louis, has been elected to the life sciences division of the Academy of Science of the Royal Society of Canada.

This year’s winners of the Dean James E. McLeod Freshman Writing Prize have been recognized. They are are Gabriella Ruskay-Kidd and Ella-Marie West, and Luka Cai Minglu received an honorable mention. The prize awards students in Arts & Sciences who engage in research that explores an aspect of race, gender or identity.

Brian Froelke, MD, assistant professor of emergency medicine at Washington University School of Medicine in St. Louis, has been named the emergency medical services medical adviser to the Center for Patient Safety.

Angela Bauman, director of admissions operations for Olin Business School’s Executive MBA program, and Nadia Ghasedi, associate university librarian for University Libraries, were selected for the fall 2017 class of FOCUS St. Louis’ Emerging Leaders program.
