The School of Law’s national moot court team made it to the final round of the American Bar Association’s National Appellate Advocacy Competition, finishing as the national runner-up.

Megan Cooper, MD, PhD, assistant professor of pediatrics and of pathology and immunology at Washington University School of Medicine in St. Louis, has been named director of the Jeffrey Modell Diagnostic and Research Center for Primary Immunodeficiencies at St. Louis Children’s Hospital.

Washington University in St. Louis men’s basketball coach Mark Edwards is among those who received the 2018 National Association of Basketball Coaches Division III Outstanding Service Award. 

Graduate student Krystian Sisson, a member of the Muscogee (Creek) Nation from Henryetta, Okla., has been awarded an Udall Foundation and Native Nations Institute congressional internship for this summer. Sisson is pursuing a master’s of social work, with a concentration in policy, at the Brown School.

Neurosurgeon Ralph G. Dacey Jr., MD, of the School of Medicine, is now the namesake for an award that pays tribute to his spirit and accomplishments in the area of cerebrovascular research, his myriad contributions to neurosurgery, and his unwavering leadership in the area of resident training and education.

Five Olin Business School students showed off their financial savvy and took first place in the “value investing” division of the prestigious Quinnipiac G.A.M.E. Forum last month in New York. 

Washington University Libraries recently received a $50,000 grant from Newman’s Own Foundation, created by late actor and philanthropist Paul Newman. The funding will support the libraries’ Modern Literature Collection and the digitization of student publications in the University Archives.

After three years of preparation, the Washington University Police Department has been awarded full accreditation by the Commission on Accreditation for Law Enforcement Agencies. The process required the department to meet 189 standards in crime prevention and control capabilities; management procedures; and service delivery.

Former U.S. Ambassador Sam Fox and Marilyn Fox will receive the Dean’s Medal for outstanding service from the Sam Fox School of Design & Visual Arts Thursday, April 5. In addition, eight art and architecture alumni will be recognized for demonstrating creativity, innovation, leadership and vision in their respective fields.

Raymond E. Arvidson, the James S. McDonnell Distinguished University Professor in Arts & Sciences at Washington University in St. Louis, will receive the Weidenbaum Center Award for Excellence Medal. The award will be given at a ceremony held during the Weidenbaum Center on the Economy, Government, and Public Policy annual dinner April 2. This award honors individuals who have made major contributions to both scholarship and public service.
