McWilliams named state’s top biology teacher
The National Association of Biology Teachers has awarded Chuck McWilliams, co-director of the Master’s in Biology for Science Teachers Program through the Institute for School Partnership and a teacher-leader for the Maplewood Richmond Heights School District, the 2018 Outstanding Biology Teacher Award for Missouri.
Furlong, Green appointed associate university librarians
John Furlong and Harriet Green will join the staff of Washington University Libraries as associate university librarians. Furlong’s appointment begins Aug. 1; Green’s takes effect Sept. 1.

Salas wins Loeb Classical Library fellowship
Luis Salas, assistant professor of classics in Arts & Sciences at Washington University in St. Louis, has been awarded a prestigious fellowship from the Loeb Classical Library Foundation at Harvard University.
Gift allows Siteman Cancer Center to establish resiliency program for nurses
A $500,000 donation to Washington University School of Medicine in St. Louis will be used to provide resiliency training for nurses at Siteman Cancer Center at Barnes-Jewish Hospital and the School of Medicine.
Windmiller named to Bi-State board
Rose Windmiller, associate vice chancellor for government and community relations at Washington University in St. Louis, was appointed by Gov. Mike Parson to the board of the Bi-State Development Agency of the Missouri-Illinois Metropolitan District, which operates the region’s Metro public transit system, along with the St. Louis Downtown Airport and the Regional Freight District.
Jones recognized in Business Journal’s ‘30 Under 30’
Kirsten Jones, residency coordinator in the Division of Medical Education at Washington University School of Medicine in St. Louis, was selected from more than 200 nominations as one of the St. Louis Business Journal’s “30 Under 30” honorees for 2018.
Racette joins NIH environmental health advisory council
Brad Racette, MD, the Robert Allan Finke Professor of Neurology at Washington University School of Medicine in St. Louis, has been named to the National Advisory Environmental Health Sciences Council. His term began in May and will continue through November 2021.
