Rebecca Lester, associate professor of sociocultural anthropology in Arts & Sciences at Washington University in St. Louis, has been appointed the next editor-in-chief of the interdisciplinary journal Culture, Medicine, and Psychiatry. She also was recently elected president of the Society for Psychological Anthropology.

The School of Engineering & Applied Science’s communications and marketing team recently won five awards in the Pride of CASE (Council for Advancement and Support of Education) V competition.

Andrew Rehfeld, associate professor of political science at Washington University, has been elected the 13th president of Hebrew Union College-Jewish Institute of Religion (HUC-JIR) following a national search to fill the role.

Tuberculosis expert Jennifer Philips, MD, PhD, associate professor of medicine, has been named co-director of the Division of Infectious Diseases in the Department of Medicine at Washington University School of Medicine in St. Louis.

A team of researchers at Washington University School of Medicine in St. Louis has been funded by the Chan Zuckerberg Initiative to study the root causes of neurodegenerative disorders.

John E. McCarthy, chair and professor of mathematics and statistics at Washington University, was elected as a fellow of the American Mathematical Society. The society recognized McCarthy for his contributions to operator theory and functions of several complex variables.
