Rajan Chakrabarty, assistant professor of energy, environmental and chemical engineering at the McKelvey School of Engineering, received the 2019 Schmauss Award from the German Association for Aerosol Research (Gesellschaft für Aerosolforschung) at the European Aerosol Conference in Gothenburg, Sweden.

Arts & Sciences presented Outstanding Staff Awards to Robert Chien, Rachel Dunaway and Sue McKinney and the Dean’s Award to Henry S. Webber in recognition of their extraordinary contributions to the effectiveness of teaching, advising, counseling and research in Arts & Sciences.

Graham A. Colditz, MD, DrPH, the Niess-Gain professor of surgery and director of the Division of Public Health Sciences at Washington University School of Medicine in St. Louis, has been named to the National Institutes of Health (NIH) Council of Councils.

Three physician-scientists from Washington University School of Medicine in St. Louis have received a 2019 Clinical Scientist Development Award from the Doris Duke Charitable Foundation. Philip Budge, MD, PhD, Brian DeBosch, MD, PhD, and Andrew Kau, MD, PhD, are among 16 U.S. physician-scientists receiving the awards, which provide $495,000 over three years to each investigator.

Judi McLean Parks, of Olin Business School at Washington University in St. Louis, was honored with a certificate of appreciation from the government of Madagascar for her contributions to the development of the Mahabo region, where she has worked with students for more than a decade.

The NSF Center for Sustainable Polymers (CSP) has been awarded a $20 million grant renewal from the National Science Foundation in support of its research. The CSP, based at the University of Minnesota, partners with researchers from around the country, including William Tolman in Arts & Sciences.

Ashley Steed, MD, PhD, an instructor of pediatrics at Washington University School of Medicine in St. Louis, has received a 2019 Career Award for Medical Scientists from the Burroughs Wellcome Fund, a nonprofit organization dedicated to biomedical science through research and education.
